The Dean experiment is over. He has ended his campaign for the presidency, in what can only be summed up as a sad turn of events. Dean had all the momentum going into Iowa and New Hampshire, and when he lost Iowa, it was not that big of a surprise. (Kerry and Edwards had been surging; Dean had been attacking Gephardt.) But then the media killed him. They slaughtered him.

The media caught on video a passionate Dean stirring up his thousands of supporters after a disappointing evening at the polls. And they looped it. All of a sudden, the headlines went from "Can Anybody Stop Dean" to "Kerry Wins Iowa Shocker" to "Dean Has Gone Nuts." All in one night. And he never recovered.

The field is down to four: Kerry, Edwards, Sharpton, and Kucinich.
