The influence of religion. Bush is evangelical, and having touched God or Jesus (I forget which one the wackos believe they have touched.) has not separated his church from our state. This influence has resulted in his decision to halt stem-cell research, commence the faith-based initiative, and begin a "crusade" (he has used this specific term) to democratize the middle east. He believes god wants him to be president. He also believes that god only endorses democracies. And that god is a capitalist.

Bush does have help however with this demented and deranged belief system. Earlier this year Pat Robertson declared god told him Bush was going to win, and win in a landslide.
