Answering Karl Rove
Karl Rove, chief strategist for President Bush, asked rhetorically this past weekend: "We're in a time of war. Do you want a leader who vacillates, caves to political pressure and attempts to hide his true feelings behind a veneer of rhetoric? Or do you want a leader who says what he believes and does what he says?"

I want someone who knows what he is doing. What this country needs is a leader who understands the issues, and what all of its complex parameters and repercussions mean to the American people. Not one who, upon the first glimpse of pressure during a chess match, flips the board over, calls the opponent a cheater and storms off. Some people are afraid to say it, others hate to admit it. President Bush is not smart enough; that is, he does not have the intellectual capacity that it takes to make decisions that effect the globe. Maybe he would have been a good king in another time period, but not the president of the United States in the 21st century.
