Here are some useful one-liners for a scoial gathering when politics enter the conversation. Be sure to use these lines wisely because timing is so important. Waiting too long is better than rushing and wait for the perfect introduction.

This one is good during any debate of current policies.

"Well, that's the great thing about a republican president. A strong defense and a strong economy. Oops. Well I guess he has four more years to try again."

And on the topic of 9-11, when a conservative claims you are unAmerican for suggesting Bush failed as commander-in-chief.

"There was a hole in the side of the Pentagon."

"I'm not saying Bush was asleep at the wheel. I'm saying Bush had a momentary lapse of reason. Unfortunately, that moment lasted eight months."

"We had an Attorney General [John Ashcroft] who was more interested in book-burning than disrupting the plans of terrorists. He deprioritized terrorism to such a low level that it didn't even remain on a list of the seven main goals of the Justice Department."
