reyonthehill: Bush Presses the Lord
Bush Presses the Lord
In an interview with the conservative Washington Times, Bush had the following things to say about the place the lord has in public office.
The greatest freedom we have or one of the greatest freedoms is the right to worship the way you see fit.

On the other hand, I don't see how you can be president at least from my perspective, how you can be president, without a relationship with the Lord.

[...]

I think people attack me because they are fearful that I will then say that you're not equally as patriotic if you're not a religious person. I've never said that. I've never acted like that. I think that's just the way it is.

So Bush starts the new year by coming out and saying that you are unpatriotic if you are not religious; and that even though the greatest freedom granted to Americans is the freedom of religion, that doesn't apply to the president, and in order to be president one must have a "relationship" with the lord.

Does a relationship with Allah count?
