There is something critically wrong with society when the cops arrest more marijuana smokers than coke dealers. The Washington Post reported today that the number of marijuana-related drug arrests have consistently outnumbered the number of heroin- and cocaine-related drug arrests over the last ten years.

Of course, this statistic (and graphic) certainly doesn't account for the many cases where the defendant pleads down to a lesser-charge (e.g., possession of marijuana). So this statistic may be completely bogus for that matter. However, the Bush administration, instead of playing the proper angle of "getting dealers off the streets," or something silly like that (the War on drugs is completely silly and should cease immediately), said this...

Bush administration officials attribute the rise in marijuana arrests to a variety of factors: increased use among teenagers during parts of the 1990s; efforts by local police departments to focus more on street-level offenses; and growing concerns over the danger posed by modern, more potent versions of marijuana.
