How did I come across this book? Good question. When I was a student at Syracuse, I would every-now-and-then peruse the books at the bookstore, and I would sometimes purchase a book or two. This is one of those; and I have yet to read it. I picked the book based on the cover. (I'm serious.) I had never heard of the author, nor had I heard any good things about the book; I purchased it blindly. I hadn't even looked at the praise or summary on the back cover (which is one of the first things I do when shopping for books now-a-days). I don't know what I was thinking. (It really looked good though, I will admit it caught my attention. And I did buy a bunch of books that turned out great using this "blind-purchasing" method; what can I say, I take chances.)
I did get through the first chapter this morning, and I can tell you the premise -- the father of a seemingly-disturbed family has passed away, and he had been a popular cartoonist for his portrayals of a seemingly-perfect family (very similar to "Family Circus"). What happens next is any one's guess.
