John Kerry 1, Tired Bush 0

The first debate has concluded and the verdict is out: John Kerry washed the floor with President Bush. On national security, on terrorism, and on Iraq. Remember, Bush wanted the first debate to be solely on the issues of homeland security and foreign policy – it was supposed to be his strongpoint. However, as Bush got tired and his brain cramped up (he just wanted to go home and go to bed), his intellectual inferiority to the esteemed Senator was apparent. He was incoherent and repetitive. That may work on the campaign trail, when all the applause and hoots and hollers from your most ardent supporters drown out your voice anyway, but not on national television in front of the media and critics.

A golden line of analysis from Howard Fineman (of Newsweek) on MSNBC: “[Bush] brought 30 minutes of material to a 90-minute debate.”

The spinmasters of Bush, however, didn’t waste anytime in attempting to declare Bush the winner of this first and vital debate. They said the American people saw a strong leader. What Americans did see is an idiot who can’t see straight.

Here is a photo of a flustered Bush. (“What is that commie-bastard saying about me?” or “Oh man, I don’t know what the hell I am doing.”)
