Phew!

On this past Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice stated that she will not seek the presidency in 2008. Well, shouldn’t we be relieved? I mean, why was she even asked such a preposterous question?

Ms. Rice is the person who people rightfully conclude should be considered a principal in the failures of intelligence and lack of action taken before the horrific attacks of nine-eleven. As National Security Advisor, it was her duty to the president (a miserable failure, I shall add) and the American people to analyze threats to the nation and advise the president on counter-actions to implement. She failed to do so. She failed to do anything at all. She was focusing on Russia, China, and North Korea, and avoiding the elephant-in-the-room, fundamentalist Islamic terrorism, as suggested by then-terrorism czar, Richard Clarke. They didn’t listen to him though; he was left over from the Clinton administration.

(I concede that the next president should be a woman; just not this lady.)
