The 700 Club Is Not Good With Numbers

The Christian Broadcasting Network, or CBN (funny, I always thought that CBN was for the dyslexic viewers of Seinfeld and Law & Order; I guess I was wrong), reported on a bill in Congress that would axe RU-486, the so-called “abortion drug.”

Correspondent David Brody asserted: “The co-sponsor list is growing on this bill, including many congresswomen who say this is all about protecting women” (emphasis added). Brody’s report appeared on the March 11 edition of CBN’s The 700 Club.

However, as Media Matters discovered, only 7 of the 68 congresswomen currently serving in the House of Representatives are on board with the bill. Let us see now, 7 over 68… less than 10.3%. (Less than!) When you figure in the voting patterns of the 700 Club and it’s viewers, maybe that is many.
