Fox Spins Schiavo

Do you get the feeling Fox News doesn’t want to let go of the “gold mine” that the terrible Terri Schiavo story was to the network? What is even more despicable is the way Fox has spun the story. The issue that made this story what it was is that the true wishes of Terri Schiavo may have never been known. The husband, his legal guardian, said one thing, and her parents said another. A lawsuit ensued. And we know the rest.

So why does Fox do this? “Terri Schiavo’s fight ends…”

That is a pure example of using loaded language. Yes, the tragic story that was the life of Terri Schiavo had ended. Publicly. But Fox didn’t say that. They said her “fight” had ended, implying that she wanted to live this whole time. That is editorialized commentary, not fact, as the reason the tragic story became so public was that no one knew what she wanted. Poor journalism once again at Fox News.
