Bush Continues To Slide, Tom Delay Still An Unknown

Recent CBS News/New York Times polls show Bush continues to slide into the Carter-era black hole of public opinion. (The only good news for Bush is that the only place to go is up… or jail.)

The most critical item reflected in that poll is (no, not that 84% of democrats despise the president; hello 16%, where are you hiding?) that sixty-four percent of independents dissapprove of the president’s job. It is very difficult to pass right-sided legislation without the support of the middle portions of the country. A third of the Senate and the entire House is up for re-election next November (motly republicans) and sticking their beaks out for an unpopular president may be suicidal. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bush gets strong friction against some of his more controversial and untested proposals in the House in the lead up to next year’s midterm elections.
This just in… most Americans do not watch the news, or they watch the news only for the weather…
