Will Miers Be Independent?

The short answer is “no;” the long answer is “hell no.” Harriet Miers has been Bush’s personal secretary and political confidant, White House deputy chief of staff, and most recently, White House counsel. An independent judiciary doesn’t jive with political cronyism.
