No Litmus Test Needed

A “litmus test” is only used if a judicial nominee is pro-choice. If the nominee is pro-life, there is no need to ask for their views, therefore no litmus test is needed.

The religious right wants the federal government to be involved in our daily lives. Mainstream republicans (well, most of them) claim that they are the party for limited government, however, it is their party that got deeply involved in the Terri Schiavo case, and it is their base that would like abortions to be illegal, rather than legal, safe and rare.

The religious right wing of the GOP not only wants zero federal dollars to be spent on the provision of abortions (in any case, whatsoever), the religious right wants federal money (and lots of it) to be spent on stopping abortions.

I suppose they long for the “good old days” when women slunk off in secrecy to get abortions with rusty coathangars from unqualified people… Some people never learn from their mistakes.
