Chris Matthews: Osama = Michael Moore

I used to be a big fan of MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and his show “Hardball;” I watched the program daily, I read his book (and did a paper on it while at Syracuse as an undergrad). For awhile there, he was one of the best political pundits on television. It is not as if I had always agreed with him (the contrary, in fact); I had simply felt that he was an astute political commentator. I have, more recently, however, ripped on his political prognostication, insisting that he has “lost all relevance politically.” (Maybe that was a bit much? Apparently not.)

In a blatant attempt to compete with the near-neonazis at Fox News, Chris Matthews had the following to say regarding Osama bin Laden’s latest recorded message to America… “He sounds like an over the top Michael Moore here, if not a Michael Moore.

Excuse me? Come again. Michael Moore?

I didn’t think Fahrenheit 911 was a good film either (heavily overrated, in my humble liberal opinion), but equating an anti-war filmmaker to the mastermind terrorist responsible for the horrific events of nine-eleven, that’s just Fox News.
