The Highest Ethical Standards

Hidden within the news that Jack Abramoff, who has pleaded guilty to a slew of charges including bribing of government officials, had several staff-level meetings in the White House, is this morsel of fun: “[White House Press Secretary Scott] McClellan said, ‘This president expects everybody in his administration to adhere to the highest ethical standards.’“
Yea, and the Scooter Libby leaking-of-a-CIA-agent’s-identity-thing, that’s just a misunderstanding. And following his indictment, Bush did not condemn Libby’s activities, but applauded them by saying, “We’re all saddened by today’s news. I have accepted [Libby's] decision with deep regret.“
Of course, the “highest” ethical standards…
