Imbolc, A Holiday For Sex
Posted at 9:03 am on Thursday, February 2, 2006, in Uncategorized.
Today is the pagan holiday of Imbolc which is celebrated with a “fertility ritual.” (Read: Did you have sex today?) Imbolc is also marked by fire (or candles, and the holiday was later called “Candlemas,” a bit of an applied christian-variant). Historically, it was around this time of the winter that if hedgehogs were seen poking their heads out of snow, it was a sign of an early spring. This holiday has eventually tranformed into the modern American “Groundhog Day.” For more information on the wonderful pagan wheel of the year, visit your local library, or consult Wikipedia.
