Right-Wingers Attack Jake Tapper’s Blog; I Defend

One of my favorite blogs, and the only blog I take the time to comment on (except for the occassional Daily Kos and Huffington Post comment), is Jake Tapper’s Down and Dirty at ABC News. The most pressing story of late, duh, is the “Cheney-shooting-hunting-buddy-in-the-face” thing, and Jake, as a member of the media, has spent some blog space addressing the issue. Well, some of the right-wing readers have taken offense, including…
- Judy: “Get over it is right !This is not new! This is the Hollywood Tabloid reporting. It makes me sick that all our word News has come to this.”
- Jim: “I realize that your job is to report the news as you see it but it is time that you folks realized what is important and what is not. It is time that you guys got in touch with main-stream America. We do not feel the need to know all of the information that you try to force down our throats. Stop being so full of yourselves that you miss the point of what news actually has a place in the lives of your watchers.”
- Sarah: “Seriously GET OVER IT! It’s one thing to cover the story but to say that the administration should have ‘leveled with the American people’ is just ignorant! Get over yourselves people! Good grief do we not have more important things to discuss! Maybe we should address the ‘chocolate’ rebuilding of New Orleans! Which is a whole other issue, being that if we were to rebuild a ‘vanilla’ New Orleans we would be crucified for even thinking that way! Whatever, it’s hopeless anymore and you, the media, don’t help things one bit! Get a life!”
After reading these thoughts of the war-mongering right-wing supporters of Bush/Cheney/Rove/DeLay/Frist, I decided to post my own comment…
Wow, strong comments on this blog today. And maybe they’re right, Jake: It was on Bush’s vacation in Crawford, Texas, in August 2001, when he was delivered a memo stating that bin Laden was determined to attack the U.S. using airplanes as missiles. And look at how long it took the Bush administration to fess up to that… Good grief, indeed.

It had no effect on his ability to govern so was of no consequence? Clinton LIED…under oath! And it was private? Come on people. They all knew about that and didn’t tell anyone for weeks! No calls to the press boys!”

Bill and Monica?!? Apparently this commenter misunderstood the news of Cheney “shooting someone in the face.”
