For the first time in franchise history, the Buffalo Sabres (of the NHL) have won 50 games in a season. With two games remaining, the Sabres have 106 points (two points for a win, and 1 point for an overtime/shootout loss), which is the third best season in franchise history behind the 1974-75 campaign (49 wins, 113 points), which subsequently ended in a Stanley Cup finals loss to Philadelphia, and the 1979-80 campaign (47 wins, 110 points). The Sabres will finish the season with the fifth-best record in the entire NHL. (Not bad for a small-market team.)
