Film Retrospective; A Fiancee Email

My fiancee and I are active participants in this service called “Netflix.” (Maybe you have heard of it?) Well, being the archivist that I am, I have posted reviews of the films we have seen in a series I call Film Retrospective. This way, we will remember what we have watched (and liked or disliked) and document our (read: my) thoughts on the films.

Who has queue power on our Netflix? Well, to say the least, my fiancee has put in a few requests for films on our Netflix queue, namely Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and most recently, Money Pit.

My review of Girls Just Want to Have Fun was not good (from my fiancee’s perspective, that is). What did I say? Oh yea, “Hmm… Helen Hunt as a ‘cool rock chick.’ Nope, don’t see it.” And I gave it a half-star (out of five). Only one movie has recieved a lower star rating — Shark Tale received zero stars; it was that bad.

My review of Money Pit, however, was more glowing (it was a much better film): “Tom Hanks has never changed and Shelley Long really, really screwed up when she left the cast of Cheers. The plot is somewhat nonsensical but the movie provides some humor.” And I gave it 2½ stars.

My fiancee was more content with the review of Money Pit and she sent me an email… “Finally! Some humor! And 2 1/2 Stars! But at least you liked it better than girls just want to have fun!!!”

Well, that is true… I did like Money Pit better than Girls Just Want to Have Fun, but I decided to have fun with my girl. I replied, “Wait a minute… 2.5 stars… that’s a typo. And ‘humor…’ that is a typo too.. it was supposed to be ‘tumor.’ I need an editor…
