State-of-the-Art

Speaking of Ryan Howard and the Philadelphia Phillies and in the wake of the news that the Oakland A’s are relocating down the I-880 corridor to Fremont, where they will build a state-of-the-art baseball-only stadium (I like how teams sell “state-of-the-art,” as if a team would not build a state-of-the-art field these days. Oh, I thought you were going to go all old school with a “rundown feel” — turn-of-the-century turnstiles and shit. You know, there is enough room for a dog-race track for off-days.), I am reminded of an old joke…
A young student in a class is asked to spell “PHILADELPHIA.” The student says, “P-H-I-L-D-E-L-P-H-I.” The teacher, puzzled, asks the young boy where the A’s are. He replied, “The A’s moved to Kansas City.“
