In the News… Intelligent Penny-Loafers on Life Support.

Posted at 1:08 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2006, in In the News.

- The democratic majority in the Senate may be no more if Senator Johnson of South Dakota can not return and the GOP governor appoints his replacement.

- Speaker-elect Pelosi plans to tighten the reins on intelligence funding, a move that may (er, will) garner significant outcry from the GOP yelling “weak on terror.”

- Instead of banning the melting of pennies, which people do since the copper is more valuable than the penny itself, the U.S. should stop producing pennies altogether (which I have advocated for previously).

I’d read in a news article that the value of the metals (zinc with a copper coating) in a penny is worth 1.12 cents. It seems it costs more money to make money! No wonder the federal government has a deficit!
