In the News… Polling the Invite List to Iraq.

- In what has to be considered a coming crisis, “some people simply refuse to respond to Evite invitations.” I always make an effort to reply to invitations, online or off. However, after taking a look at some of these Evite invitations I receive — I’d swear the host simply sent the invite to everyone in their addressbook, which sometimes includes duplicate entries (for people with more than one address, like me) — I could see why one wouldn’t feel the need to respond. It is good manners though to do so.

- Umh, if the Baker Commission report is not a complete repudiation of Bush’s Iraq policy, then this should be: “Just 27 percent of Americans approved of Bush’s handling of Iraq.” I know, I know, you don’t govern by polls. Good for you; bad for us.

- Why is it that to “prevail in Iraq” now means getting out of there as quickly as possible coupled with leaving the country in one piece? Was this the legacy Bush was looking for?

It’s probably too late for this, but I think the disparate items in this section of your blog, plus some creative thinking, could have prevented the beginning of the Iraq war in 2003. All the US government had to do was to tell all the troops by way of Evite invitations that they had to report to Iraq for fighting. Most troops wouldn’t have responded, so the US wouldn’t be stuck there now. Just a thought….
