The Bills’ Uniforms Make Me Sick

I’ve been wanting to get this off my chest for some time now, and I wasn’t going to say anything, but then again, I have a blog…
The Bills’ uniforms make me sick. And what makes it such a paradox, my beloved Bills have the greatest uniforms in the game; unfortunately they only wear them twice a season. I’m talking about the Bills’ throwback unis, which they wore last week against San Diego…

Now aren’t those the most beautiful uniforms you have seen? (And with respect to the uniforms of the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, whose uniforms have never changed, the only throwback-style uniforms that compare in the league are those of the New York Jets and New York Giants, both teams that are actually located in New Jersey. So there you have it… the Bills have the best uniforms in the state of New York, but they don’t wear them for most games.)
The Bills have lost both games this year when playing in these uniforms; however, they look great doing it…

It makes you think of what could be?
But what to make of, undoubtedly, the ugliest uniforms in the league — the Bills’ regular uniforms? They plain suck, that’s what. What is with that dark blue? Where did that come from? And why are the helmets still red? And why is that helmet logo so big? And why is the blue on the helmet not the same as the primary blue on the jersey? And why aren’t you wearing white pants? The uniforms suck; there is no better way to describe it.
Here are the Bills’ actual home uniforms (when they’re not dazzling the crowd in their gorgeous throwbacks)…

Ouch. (You know what I mean, right?)
And here are the Bills’ uniforms on the road…

(Oh no, I’m about to throw-up. And I promised myself I wouldn’t.) What is with that dark blue outline along the red side-piping on the pants? Who designed these things?
The away/light pants, however, are only slightly better than when the Bills wear dark pants on the road…

Where did the grey come from? I guess the Arena Football League is looking to expand to Buffalo. There is not much more to say about them.
Now what to do. First, go throwback all the time, home and away, and become a model citizen (similar to the Bears, Packers and Raiders) within a league of misfits. Show off the true class of a mightily-proud organization, and get back to the basics — with the uniforms, I mean. Whatever happens on the field, doesn’t really matter. Looking good while you do it, is.

The Bills’ uniforms don’t make me sick (which is probably why I don’t have a blog), but they are a good example of design gone mad. When I first saw the “new” Bills’ logo, it looked like a laser beam was cutting an animal in half. Is that a good idea for a team logo? From that bad start, using red, white, and blue in one uniform makes the Bills look like some sort of wannabe superheroes (Captain America comes to mind). Finally, I have to agree that their previous “retro” design was simpler and more memorable. Bring it back!

There is absolutely nothing positive about the current Bills’ uniforms. Maybe the management is waiting for a good team to arrive before unleashing the better uniforms they have hidden. Can’t wait.

I should have also mentioned the Steelers and Browns as teams that have never changed their uniforms. And then, again, I guess one could argue the 49ers, Saints, Dolphins, Chiefs, etc., so I was way off there. But I would like to mention that the Browns’ uniforms kick-ass too.
