Your last item reminds me of the apocryphal story attributed to George Bernard Shaw at a Victorian dinner party: Shaw approached a beautiful unaccompanied woman and began conversing with her. The conversation turned to the subject of how money can be used to influence someone’s behavior. The lady doubted that theory, so Shaw asked her if she would sleep with him for the princely sum of a million pounds. She said she probably wouldn’t be able to refuse such a large sum of money. Then, Shaw asked if she’d sleep with him for only a shilling. The lady haughtily replied, “Mr. Shaw, exactly what kind of woman do you think I am?” Shaw replied, “I think we’ve answered that question. Now, we’re just trying to settle on the price.”

Great anecdote. And what does it really matter what party affiliation one has, as long as they vote properly. That news item is just another example of the GOP’s pitiful attempt to become the “only” political party in America.
