Mendocino

While camping along the Mendocino coast two summers ago, I developed a storyline for a horror movie. The original title was “Big River (The Mendocino War)” and the movie is supposed to last just a little over an hour. (It would be stupid of me to give away the plot right now, although I am dying to do so, as I am still developing the story and I plan to eventually produce the film as a part of on the hill films.) However…
Sometime before my wedding I told my brother — who happens to be an architect, a very good one at that — of my film and he liked the idea. His only suggestion was to shorten the name to “Mendocino.” I liked that, so that is the movie title moving forward as I develop the script.
Recently my brother sent along a movie poster idea he had sketched up, and although he spelled the name of the film incorrectly, the poster kicks ass — it captures the film’s essence — and in fact, needs only little modification. I’m pretty sure this will be darn close to the final product. Look for this on DVD…* (Click on image for full size.)
* By the time I finish producing the film, DVDs may be obsolete and downloading will be the preferred medium. In that case, “look for this download…”

You even have a title song already written and recorded for your upcoming movie: “Mendocino,” by Doug Sahm of the Sir Douglas Quintet. (Although it may not quite fit the tone you want to establish….)

I will have to listen to their offerings. (I am not sure what type of rock and/or roll these guys play.)
