I have a good friend who lives in the city (of San Francisco), a former coworker at one of my previous companies, a company that I will not discuss while blogging for fear of retribution, beatings and sabotage. Anyway, this guy’s mom makes some damned good authentic Mexican food and whenever she visits (from Tejas), it is always more than worth the trip into the city, despite all the gays.
So when my friend emailed me to tell me why he missed softball practice on Sunday (he was sick, apparently, with — get this — pneumonia; yea right), I thought I’d take the opportunity to ask him about his mom…
That is alright. I hope you feel better.
By the way, when is your mom going to be in town again, I’m hungry.
Carlo (that’s my friend’s given name; his middle name starts with ‘G,’ it may stand for Gustave, but I’m not sure) replied…
My mom is talking about coming in June⦠I will keep you posted.
Yippee is what I’m thinking, but I don’t want to let my friend know about my excitement and anticipation of his mother’s possible visit (unless, of course, he reads this blog, but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t, and that is mostly because he still works at my former company, a company I will not name on this blog for fear of retribution, beatings and sabotage, and probably the reason my friend can’t read my blog, for his own fear of retribution, beatings and sabotage), so I replied with a marvelous idea…
Please do. You should start a website, like carlosmomscooking.com or something, with a map that shows where she is and how long before she arrives.
Or, at least a blog. Am I right, or am I right?
Note: This blog post was influenced by the Kurt Vonnegut novel I am currently reading, a novel that I should finish today, a good seven days’ worth of reading. I would not recommend others to read the novel, it is not that good. I should also mention these emails between my friend and I occurred between 9:30am and 2:00pm today, reyonthehill time.

I’m happy to see that you’ve only Carlo’s best interests at heart and that there is absolutely no advantage or benefit for you in his establishing a blog, despite implicit threats of retribution, beatings, and sabotage. (Let’s hear more about those!)
