In the News… A bundle of wood.

- Ann Coulter attacks Edwards for being gay (or something), and Republican candidates are distancing themselves from the beast. Oh, so this Coulter comment is the one that finally offended you.

- A lot of new companies are trying to compete with Google, but at least you know how to spell Google. For example: Anoox.com, SideKiq.com, Qloud.com, and Frucall.com. Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to have a name people can remember, like Google?

- And hope for the best, plan and prepare for the worst. Except if you’re the Bush administration and the issue is Iraq. There is no Plan B. Hope for the best, expect what you hoped for, and deride those who are planning for any other result.

Ann Coulter has always reminded me of the toddler who overhears a naughty word, ignorant of its meaning, and repeats it because she sees it will provoke a strong reaction. How much of Coulter’s carefully-crafted persona is an act and how much is real I do not know, but I do know that she’s simply not worth paying ANY attention to. (Her comments about the families who lost loved ones in the 09/11 tragedy are beneath contempt.) In an ideal world, everyone would ignore her and she’d simply fade away.

And you’ve hit the nail squarely on the head with your last paragraph. One of the most stinging criticisms about how this war has been run is that the Bush administration had overly optimistic expectations as to how things would turn out and NO alternative plans if things didn’t. Coupling those unrealistic expectations with a Commander-in-Chief who’s not particularly intellectually inquisitive as to how things will get done (I’m trying to be kind here) creates a recipe for a disaster which we now have to live with.
