Sarcasm

Just a few comments on sarcasm.
I am not wholly sure if sarcasm is indeed the lowest form of wit, but it certainly holds its place near the bottom rung. When I employ sarcasm, as I did in the last item of my most recent In the News post, I know it is because I am being lazy. It is very easy to be sarcastic; that is why it is everywhere.
Sarcasm surely has its place in humor, and in the workplace, well-done sarcasm can be considered priceless. But sarcasm should never be a person’s only source of material; if it is, they are either lazy, or stupid. Or both. Bush-like, one might say. And let me pray to the little baby lord Jesus that I safely stay away from mean old sarcasm as often as possible while blogging.
Peace. Blog later.

Another, more insidious, problem with sarcasm is that if it is used too often, other people will think you’re being sarcastic when you’re not. For example, is the last sentence in your third paragraph sarcasm, or an awkwardly-stated pledge? I think it’s the latter, but others might not.
