We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix it.

I’m still floored by the Bush administration’s we-screwed-up-and-we’re-trying-to-fix-it concession over the deleted Rove emails. Could you imagine the possibilities?
Um, Mr. Bush, a question on Iraq… “We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix it.”
And the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast. “We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix it.”
Could you discuss current relations with North Korea? “We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix it.”
And Iran? “We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix it.”
What happened to the record surpluses? “We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix it.”
I hear it’s supposed to rain tomorrow. “We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix — oops — I mean, yea, what the hell?”

The question that no one has yet asked: What started happening to America on January 20, 2001? “We screwed up, and we’re trying to fix it.” This will be the fitting epitaph for the Bush administration.
