Bush’s Anniversary (Without Mention)

Bush plans on speaking to the American people tonight about his veto of the Iraq war spending bill which calls for a troop withdrawal timetable. However, the president will somehow not mention the fact that four years ago today, he had declared that major combat operations had ended in the war. (And yes, yes, he made those remarks on an aircraft carrier, on which he landed in a plane he had co-piloted wearing a full flight suit, beneath a banner blaring “Mission Accomplished.“)
