- Cheney is in Iraq as he attempt to “push Iraq’s warring political and religious factions to seek common ground,” which was the true rationale for war all along.
- House democrats are pursuing a pay-as-you-go Iraq funding bill that “would give Bush $30.4 billion to pay for the Iraq war over the next two months but would require another vote in late July before Congress would provide another $53 billion to pay for the war through Sept. 30, the end of the federal fiscal year.” The president insists that he would veto any such legislation.
- And a new ad featuring a retired military commander lambastes Bush’s past promise that he would “listen to the requests of our commanders on the ground.” In summary, Bush didn’t.
