- From a European’s perspective, the U.S. “is the no-vacation nation.” And they are right: compared to a standard ten days (unless you work for a school), and not counting sick time (*cough* *cough*, I don’t think I can make it in to work today, the beach at Tahoe is too pleasant), most Europeans get at least four weeks paid leave a year.

- In the wake of the treasonous commutation (pardon coming) of Skeeter Libby, the “House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to examine presidential clemency power.Uhm, the Constitution stands in their way.

- Speaking of Skeeter

- Geeks are meeting in the bay area to dream up of how to improve the iPhone.

- And as Bill Clinton blasts the White House over the Libby commutation, GOP presidential aspirant Mitt Romney calls Clinton hypocritical because of his last-minute pardon of fugitive Marc Rich. It is important to recall, however — and Mitt Romney’s staff should brief the potential 44th president on this — that the Rich pardon was pursued by Rich’s lawyer, Scooter Libby.

Your last comment shows the truly delightful irony in all of this business about commutations and pardons. Mitt can be excused for not knowing about the history, though, since he’s too busy mistreating his dog.
