All the King’s Men

This is apparently a bad remake of an old movie based on a pretty good book. This is what happened: some Hollywood people wanted to win the Oscar; they chose the easy route; remake an emotional movie, hire a great cast, and let everything else take care of itself. Except that the story wasn’t that good (at least this remade tale of corrupt politicians in the South), the acting was marginal (see Jude Law), and the original had already won a slew of awards in 1949. I agree that every movie needs to be remade, but if the original won the Oscar, the remake is automatically disqualified from contention. It is just how it works (and these Hollywood people should have known better).
