And One

This is my two-thousand first post to the blog, which means my last post was number two thousand (this is why they pay me). I am not surprised by this blog’s longevity, as I believe I have staying power, but I do sincerely wish that the majority of those twenty-hundred posts weren’t trash, and I strive to improve. But the only way to improve is to publish one’s trash. So it goes.
There has been an uptick lately in the blogosphere of what they call “hyper-blogging,” or the blogging of minute details, with little or no context to the blog’s theme. This makes sense for blogs that are mostly personal, and I admit that I have picked up on the hyperblogging habit as of late — albeit without the use of hyperblogging tools — but a part of that is a symptom of me settling into my new blogging schedule. And I still think they are funny, and I believe they are somewhat contextual (even if it would be considered blind context), so that will not change, but these things will be worked out over time.
I have been working on several side-projects while trying to maintain this blog. (It is not that difficult; I don’t even consider it effort.) I have wandered into the world of MovableType, an indirect competitor of Blogger, and I am unsure where it will take me. In fact, it may take over this blog, but I’m not totally sure of what that would entail. I am both satisfied and frustrated with Blogger, but I am also not full-go on MovableType (it’s good, but not that good). One thing is certain, I need to take control of things before they get out of hand, but which direction to take is a question with no clear answer. Something needs to be done, but there is no turning back.
The world is flat, they once said. But they were wrong, unless you consider a polar surface to be flat, in which case, they were right. I’m a fan of Cartesian space, do not get me wrong, and I always assume Euclidean geometry, for simplicity, but in some cases, the two do not represent reality.
Although I have surpassed the two thousand post threshold — without any guest contributors, mind you — I am still unable to sit at home and eat cereal all day, living off of Sopranos ringtone revenue. Someday. Some day.
