Background Music

I am not a fan of background music. It is a nuisance in a dentist’s office, mostly because the music is soft rock or easy listening, or most aptly described as “shit.” Coffee houses play their music too loud; bars too. And long elevator serenades frighten me. In general, background music has been an utter failure in today’s society.
One place they do need background music, however, and they need it sorely, is in public restrooms. I do not understand why this has not happened. How uncomfortable is this? Who is in charge of these things?
I fear the quiet restroom. I want it loud; NPR; something.
I was telling my coworker the other day, that when we relocate our office in a few months, if the bathrooms there do not have background music, I will bring it up during an executive meeting. This must happen. And I will be brave enough to make it.
