Democratic Harbinger

How can a democrat not take the White House in 2008? According to a new poll, “for the first time since 1992, a plurality of voters heading into November’s election” say they are worse off than four years ago. That has never bode well for the incumbent (or his party) and is certainly a harbinger that voters are looking for change.
With John McCain predicating his campaign that the surge in Iraq is working and that he is “not that big on economics,” this is prime real estate for a democrat to establish him or herself, take charge and make full advantage.
The war has been the attention whore in recent elections, and rightfully so (only “twenty-eight percent of the public is aware that nearly 4,000 U.S. personnel have died in Iraq over the past five years“), but that is because the economy was doing well. Now that the economy has turned — whether or not we are within a recession we will find out in due time — the financial well-being of families across the U.S. will potentially become a larger issue.
Faced with facts, Americans will wonder why so many billions are being spent on the war, which sixty percent believe was a mistake, when they are struggling to make house payments, pay utility bills and fund their child’s education.
