My Obama Story

I am not going to blog that I’ve got some sort of crazy “I knew Obama when” stories because I honestly do not have one, but I figured I should publish this right now — and before he becomes president. Although we never spoke, my wife and I did walk by* Barack Obama outside the Senate chambers once. It was December 2005, and it was during the reyonthehill does dc project.

Obama was shorter than I had imagined him, and very skinny. He was just ending his first year in the Senate, so although there was the buzz that surrounds him still, I didn’t think of him as a possible democratic presidential nominee at the time.

After leaving the Senate chambers, I had recapped the event on video, in which I mentioned our brief — yet historic — brush with Obama.

* When I say “walk by,” I mean that literally; no more than an arm’s distance away.
