The Looming Karaoke Epidemic

Young people like karaoke. That is the conclusion I have reached following years of study. And I am frightened. From invitations to karaoke nights to video games like Rock Star (and even Guitar Hero), karaoke has infiltrated our society to dangerous levels. And there doesn’t seem to be any means to stem the tide of this disturbing trend.
Fox now airs a pathetic reality show with people singing lyrics, a simple variant of karaoke. When will the madness end?
In the past, people who have sung by themselves, looking in the mirror, rocking out to Guns n’ Roses, were considered losers. Or, at least when they were caught, their actions were frowned upon. And now? People are singing by themselves into a microphone hooked into a computer (or game console), and this behavior is supposed to be just fine? I do not support that.
An epidemic is on the rise in this country. It started in Asia decades ago, and migrated here. And over time, with an influx of capitalist greed, karaoke has become mainstream. And I do not plan to stand for it.
It is not alright for people to sing karaoke by themselves, and it never should be. We need to tell our children this, and make our nation safe again. Safe from karaoke, and safe from horrible singing voices.
