Pledge Days

You’ve got to love media accepting John McCain’s pledge to balance the budget within four years without any evidence as to how he would accomplish it…

It is unclear how Mr. McCain plans to balance the budget, given that fiscal analysts who have examined his economic plans say that his calls to extend the Bush tax cuts while cutting corporate and other taxes would likely increase the deficit.

Also, I would promise — if I were running, that is — to balance the budget in my first year as president.

Jon Mccain has been getting off easy so far. I think once the debates start, it will be a different story. Any thoughts on my Veep list email?

    Veep picks:
I think the following are the only viable options for obama. And these are in no official order. Let me know you’re thoughts.

    VP picks

    1) Hillary Clinton – This could be a big toss up. All the hillary fans would be happy and the republican attack dogs would be happy as well.
    2) Wesley Clark – This guy makes Mccain look like an idiot on foreign policy and he’s a likeable straight talker. He might be the best option.
    3) Chuck Hagel – The centrist Republican mentality may prove to be a great asset or a risk. I like this guy and he could be fun to watch tear into “mcbush” and his vp choice in the fall debates.
    4) Bill Richardson – Overall he is the best candidate and is likeable, honest and has a great deal of foreign policy experience. Only sad reality is that he is not a 50 year old white guy. Its a push to think that our country is ready for a black president and mexican vp.

Alternate options: these are fan favorites but not a reality.

    A) Al Gore – There’s no way he’s doing it.
    B) John Edwards – There’s no way he wants to play # 2 again and although he has it “all” on paper, he has never been able to actually get the votes needed (failed to bring in even his home state in 04′ and gave a dismal performance in the 07′ primaries).
    C) Michael Bloomberg – This would have been a very interesting/promising pick if Obama was more experienced and had some foreign policy background. Unfortunately he doesn’t, so this guy is out of the picture.

These are some of the other pics that the pundits are recommending:
    1) Sam Nunn – Too old, way to old.
    2) Ted Strickland – “Ohio boy” has a bad lisp and I just don’t like this guy. Also, he has no assets that help obama except bringing him Ohio…which is somewhat important and the only reason he’s being considered.
    3) Kathleen Sebelius – “Kansas lady” is nice but if he picked her over hillary, say bye-bye to all those diehard hillary supporters. These goofballs are already threatening to vote for Mccain right now, I wouldn’t test them. We can’t afford to lose this election because a group of democrats are still bitter that they’re candidate didn’t win. Oops…did I say bitter??
    4) Jim Webb – He already made clear he won’t do it.
    5) Mike Easley – This guy does nothing for me and nothing for Obama.
    6) Ed Rendell – I’m a proud pennsylvanian but Ed Rendell is a gigantic idiot. He’s supposedly honest and candid. He’s a moron. He has an hour long show after every eagles game where he breaks it all down. And he’s an idiot with football too. He’s one of the guys whos been able to sneak by bullshitting people. I know, as a wise man once said…. I’m a bullshitter’s bullshitter.
