An Anti-American ‘Regret’

It is interesting (and entirely convenient) to ‘regret’ something that you did not say: “‘I did not say that Barack Obama was anti-American, nor do I believe Barack Obama is anti-American. He loves his country, just as everyone in this room does,’ [Minnesota Republican Michelle Bachman] told the crowd. ‘Nor did I call for an investigation of members of Congress for their pro-American or anti-American views. That is not what I said.’” Uhm, yes you did.

It is logically impossible to regret something you’ve never said, but as you point out, she did indeed make those infamous “anti-American” comments. Bachmann’s ill-considered and ignorant remarks have not only shown her poor judgment but also caused the DCCC to pour funds into the campaign coffers of her Democratic opponent, now believing her to be vulnerable in this election. Despite her denials about never having said what she did, she invited this response! Talk about being the architect of her own misfortunes!

you gotta love the republican “double-talk”………nobody can say something stupid, then retract it and then try to spin it into an attack on them again. ONly the republicans.
