Rooting Against The Phillies

Although the fans in Los Angeles are anything but great, or even deserving of a team in the World Series, I cannot root for the Philadelphia Phillies for the following two reasons…

(1) Philadelphia fans. They are despicable; they are not human; and most of them deserve to be shot. Philly fans treat their teams in such a reprehensible (and incoherent) manner, it brings pride to the hooligans across Europe. I cannot root for such a city’s fan-base, quite possibly the most vile group of people in the nation, and condone such behavior. These people are trash.

(2) East Coast bias. The last thing we need is another two weeks of East Coast sports writers and commentators raving on about a series between Boston and Philadelphia, two iconic American cities. (If Tampa Bay does in fact beat the Red Sox, it will still be an all East Coast series, but that is certainly not what MLB executives are hoping for.) According to those in the East, sports is broken unless a team from the northeast is on top of the league or conference. For years, basketball was “broken” because the Celtics and Knicks did not make the playoffs or compete for the title. Same with hockey (Bruins and Rangers). Football has made its way to the top as the premier sport once again. Why? The Patriots and Giants. It is all they talk about.

So the Los Angeles Dodgers need to win three of the next four games. For the sake of the country.

So you hate Philly fans, Boston fans, New York fans, you are no fan of the LA fans or SF fans – exactly which city’s* fan base could you bring yourself to root with?

*And by city I mean a city with a baseball team.
