Why Biden Won

My instant analysis of last night’s debate is that both VP candidates did their job, but Biden did it better (although that is also because his job was easier). The point at this stage in the election cycle is to grab (and try to hold on to) as many undecided and independent voters as possible. Last night, people certainly saw Sarah Palin give-and-take as well as she possibly could with Biden, however, as a whole, more people got a better picture of how Barack Obama would bring change than John McCain.

Biden hit McCain very hard, and Palin really couldn’t defend McCain, just change the subject. Palin landed a blow here-and-there on Obama (in a much less organized fashion), and Biden seemed prepared to squash every attack. In the end, although people are now somewhat “comfortable” with Sarah Palin as second-in-command, those very same undecideds are more comfortable than ever with an Obama-Biden administration.
