Bipartisanship

You’ve got to love the republicans, or at least respect them. They got trounced in the election. They lost the presidency in historic fashion. They lost seats in the House. They lost seats in the Senate. They lost governorships. The American people soundly defeated their principles, and their politics. The republican time of rule was defined by partisanship, by bullying, and by the sheer politicization of the process itself. They tried to do away with the filibuster. And now they want bipartisanship.

“Bipartisanship,” according to the Repubs, means “we still think we’re the majority in Congress despite the 2008 election and, as long as you do what we want, we’ll get along fine.” The Repubs have about as much credibility concerning bipartisanship as they do about prudent fiscal stewardship: i.e., none whatsoever.
