Maddow
Posted at 11:40 am | Filed Under Uncategorized
I have never been a huge fan of Rachel Maddow. Although she is obviously highly educated (which is a good thing), and I agree with most of her politics, her "act" is based mostly on Keith Olbermann, and sometimes her gimmick wears a bit thin. However, her dog looks just like mine,* so she just [...]

9-to-5 Thoughts: Dog Walking
Posted at 9:40 am | Filed Under 9-to-5 Thoughts
While we walk our now 13-month old Labrador retriever around our neighborhood -- either together or by ourselves -- we make sure our puppy (Haley) stops and sits at all corners. She has learned this, and now does it on her own, and waits for us to lead her across the street. (Okay, maybe she [...]

While the Senate debates the children's health insurance program (the lesser know CHiP), I'll post some fluff.

Overheard At The Dog Park
Posted at 3:39 pm | Filed Under Uncategorized
Arriving at the dog park last night with Haley, who weighs about fifty pounds now at seven-and-a-half months (she was nine pounds when we got her at nine weeks), I overheard the following conversation between dog owners...
"Well, how happy are you when you have diarrhea?"
Umh, dog owners -- me included -- are so weird. (This [...]

Sandstorm At Big Sur
Posted at 3:22 pm | Filed Under Travels
This past weekend, my wife and I went down to Big Sur, and introduced the ocean to our six-month old puppy, Haley. We were caught in some sort of sandstorm at a beach...
Note: The flying sand seen in the video nearly broke my digital camera, getting lodged in the optical drive.

Joshua Tree, Day Two

Whether or not my wife and I could stand the desert heat wasn't a real concern. Whether or not our six-month-old lab puppy would survive the weekend, was a whole other question.
Haley sure loved to investigate the large boulders...
It turned out that Haley really enjoyed the desert (when it wasn't too hot, that is). She [...]

What the fuck was that? I have no idea.
But let's pretend it never happened. Think happy thoughts...
Here is a video of Haley fetching a stick in Lake Tahoe (approximate temperature of dihydro-oxide: 45 degrees, measured on the Fahrenheit scale)...
(It is a good thing I taught her how to swim first.)

- I was at the vet with Haley so I missed the most recent earthquake, a 3.0 centered a few miles from my office. My office-mate [...]

I sent the following email to people in my neighborhood in an effort to aid in these first few trying weeks with our new puppy Haley. (As it stands now, either me or my wife drives home to feed Haley at noon, which is time consuming and will not always be possible.)
Hello all-
I know this [...]
